Rupert White
Included in the exhibition were several of Rupert White's sculptural works including: Apocalypse, Doom Sayer and The End is Nigh. A video work titled Snail Study (Corbusier) was also shown and featured a snail on a revolving black Corbuiser chair.
“For me snails symbolise history: because they are so primordial themselves and slow to move and because their shells are spirals which is like the unwinding of time.” In the film the camera zooms in over about 20 minutes; so combined with the turntable, the film itself has a spiral shape. Rupert is interested in what happens when human design meets natures design.
