Taking the plunge

Well not quite, but getting there.  I’ve decided it’s time I took all this making stuff a bit more seriously.  It’s always been in my mind that ‘when I’m well enough’ I’d research the possibilities of earning a living from my art and craft works.  Having run a business once before though, I know it won’t be easy and I have no false hopes of being spectacularly well off.  I’d just like to earn a modest living one day by doing something I love (please tell me that’s not too much to ask, only I have a sneaking suspicion it might be!).

I don’t know what impulse has suddenly inspired me, probably high levels of anxiety, but I’ve decided to take a small step and set up an Etsy shop, so I’ve been over there this afternoon having a play.  I haven’t got very far!  And I haven’t got anything to put in it either, but a start’s a start :)  I’d really love it if you’d pop over and have a look, then come back and tell me what you think.  Like I said, there’s not much there other than the profile (there’s a link in the right hand column) – and I’ve got a feeling that’s way too long!  What sort of things do you think I could sell?  I was thinking small drawings/paintings, quilts, cushion covers and small items like that.  What would you buy from me?  Anything?!

I bet you’re super talented and already have an Etsy shop.  If you have, I’d love to hear your tips – all the possibilities, the rules and regulations seem overwhelming and it’s hard to know where to start.  Well, I made up a shop name.  That was a good start I think. And I like the name, which is a bit of a bonus!  But then I thought, oh no does this mean I’ll have to rethink the name of this blog as well?  Shouldn’t the two be the same or complementary at least?  Well, it’s probably early enough days not to worry about that yet, but looking at Etsy it seems it might be easier to change the name of this blog than the name of my Etsy shop, which, by the way is…

Would really love any feedback you might have.  Hope you’ve been having a fab evening?  Sadly I can’t stick around to chat as I absolutely, definitely, absolutely need to get a good night’s sleep. So ta ta for now, back soon.

Boobquake!

Dunno about you, but I’m still here rocking my own little world ;D

As you know if you read this blog on a regular basis, I do sometimes talk about my breasts.  I call them that, ‘cos somehow I don’t think they’re big enough to qualify as boobs; maybe it’s the double ‘o’ in the word itself that makes me feel that.  Maybe I’ve got bobs! Still, it amuses me no end that small and cute as they are (trust me on that one!) they can still create controversy.  Shall I tell ‘e why? Be prepared to be shocked.  Sit ye down and I shall reveal all…

I DO NOT WEAR A BRA

Bobs!

Bobs!

It’s ok, you can pick yourself up now.  I cannot believe how many people are shocked by this (mostly women).  In fact I was asked only yesterday “but don’t your nipples show?”.  I lifted up my jumper and said “you tell me”.  “Well actually, that’s quite a see-through t-shirt you’ve got on there”.  Do I care?  No I don’t, ‘cos funnily enough I think most of the human race have nipples.  And I like mine almost as much as I like my legs (from the knees down you understand).

I remember at the tender age of about 15 my mother called me disgusting because I hadn’t put a bra in the laundry for weeks.  I retorted “that’s ‘cos I don’t wear them”.  I can still recall the look on her face today; it was so much more satisfying than rebelling by dying my hair pink.  And at the age of forty-something my age I’m extremely pleased to report that my gorgeous bobs are still perky and not in need of any uncomfortable and rather pointless (excuse the pun) scaffolding.  So if you’re ever lucky enough to see me flash my t-shirt (summer’s on it’s way), be prepared and bring your smelling salts.

How did you survive Boobquake day?

And the winners are…

I went for a walk on Thursday with my friend Janie.  She’d guessed that she’d be my trusty unbiased assistant and would be making the 4th Bloggy Birthday Draw for me.  As usual we stopped for a coffee and lunch on the way.  This time it was at the idyllic The Pandora Inn (yes, I know I’m always in there when I’m over Mylor way!).  So after coffee I got Janie to do the honours and rummage about in my bag and she pulled out two names…

The hand quilted cushion goes to VICTORIA!!  Well done Victoria, I’ll email you for your address and the cushion cover will be winging it’s way to you next week :)  I really hope you’ll enjoy it.

I called this one 'Curves', I thought that was original too!

Thank you to every one that entered and put up with my badgering to do so, you’re brilliant!  Oh and thank you also for putting up with my bad time keeping and date changes…  I really was very touched by all the comments you left me.  It’s encouraged me to carry on in much the same way (poor you!).  I know I use this space to talk about most things that are on my mind, whatever they might be: happy (ish – let’s not get too carried away!), sad, boring, depressing, ranting, mundane, manic, a bit insane… and I know my creative interests are eclectic to say the least.  I’ve often wondered whether you might like me to focus a bit more on one thing, but I guess not! So thank you again for sticking around.

I really enjoyed doing this, my first giveaway, so I promise to do it again soon.  And if you have any other ideas of things you’d like me to do, let me know won’t you.  I’ve noticed lots of blogs have free patterns and tutorials and I wonder if they’d be of any interest to you here?  Mind you, I don’t know what I could teach you, you’re all such a creative bunch I think you’ve probably got the lot covered!

Congratulations again to Victoria and Becky, thanks to Janie and a wonderful weekend to you all

A belated happy birthday to me…

Bugger.  I’ve missed my own bloody birthday!  Kind of sums it up around here doesn’t it, ha, ha :)  I was too busy out having fun in the glorious sunshine in Truro today to write the ’4 years of this blog’ post I’d planned.  That’s a lie:  I was hanging around Truro like a queen about to be beheaded, while I waited for my car to be fixed.  Five hours I had to wait.  Five boring hours.  At the end of which I had to part with £150.00 for a couple of new exhaust bits.  My car is the bane of my life.

I spent a few hours mooching around shops, which I didn’t enjoy at all.  It’s no fun looking at things you can’t afford.  I couldn’t even aspire to a skirt in the Whitestuff sale that had gone down to a paltry £13.00.  No, my car will take up every penny I have.  I absolutely hate living like this, but feel powerless to make any significant changes. Then after a 15 minute visit to the dentist I decided to go to a cafe and have a coffee, which I managed to make last an hour and 40 minutes.  I occupied myself by making a few sketches of the buildings I could see out of the large window, where the sunlight flooded in and made me insufferably hot.  I couldn’t be bothered to take off my jumper though, so I deserved it.  Some celebration eh?!

Friday’s almost here!  Friday, the anniversary day.  You remember.  I’m 4 years old on Friday, precisely.  And I’m celebrating with a giveaway, yay!!!  Take a look at my previous post for details and don’t forget to leave a comment to be in with a chance of winning (the draw’s on the 19th April).  I love your comments, so keep them coming :) (you should read some of the lovely, extremely generous comments that have been left already; makes me go weak at the knees so it does!)
